Ten Dollar Challenge #4: Powder Brushes

Here we are again!

For this comparison I will review 3 powder brushes all of which I found for under $10AUD. Now these are obviously going to be completely different in quality to these you would pay $30+, but if you just want something that can put powder on your face and not make you look like you have sprouted a million black hair, $10 is fairly reasonable.

Throwback Thurday: Fiji

Hello people!

Years ago now me and Andrew went to Fiji for his 21st birthday. We had been together less than a year so it was quite an experience.... especially when we both got INSANE food poisoning.

It was still an amazing trip though, and here are some of my favorite snaps.

(I know we both look really young - we were!)

Throwback Thursday: Toybox 21st

Hello  blog people!

Here are some snapshots of my 21st birthday, way back in February.

It was Toybox themed, which was super fun, and I came as a windup doll. I ended up hating my hair and makeup, my best advice is do it yourself! I never feel confident when I feel I look like a completely different person, which is exactly what happened. But it isnt all about looks and the rest of the party turned out pretty good. I paid for 90% of the party myself, so it had to be done on the cheap. Most of the decorations were crafted by me and my mum in the months leading up to the event. I haven't included any photos of my friends, mainly because I was too lazy to ask their permission, so here is some snaps of the decor and food.

Enjoy blog lovelies!

Off to Japan!

Hello Blog people!

Tomorrow I leave for my trip around Japan! I will be out of the country for 3 whole weeks, so blogging wont be possible. I want to enjoy my holiday, so I have scheduled some posts to go up while I am away, but unfortunately there wont be a post every day.

On the plus side when I return I will do many posts explaining where we went, what we did and lots of hauls!

For now here are some pictures of Christmas in Japan that I found on Pinterest.

What facts about Japan do foreigners not believe until they come to Japan? Apparently KFC for Christmas dinner is a tradition.

I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and New Years, see you in 3 weeks!

Brand Blurb #8: Sportsgirl

Sportsgirl make up is not really spoken about much in the blog world, but is can have some amazing stuff. I think everyone as my work owns at least one Sportsgirl lipstick, and I have tried and tested enough products to give them a review, however there a HEAP of products I still need to get. For those international people out there I think it best to describe them as the Top Shop of Australia, cheap enough but still very fashionable.

"Making the world a prettier place, one face at a time."

Lets move on to the products!

***

Best Products:

Pout About It Lipstick: $9.95
These are great inexpensive lipsticks. They aren't super long lasting or hydrating, but your main is to just have freshly coloured lips these do the job fine. I think you will always find at least one (more like 10) of these in every Australian girls beauty collection.

Eye Shadow Palettes: $9.95
Again for an afforadble and travel friendly purchase these are great. The pigmentation of their shadows has improved a lot over the years and are great for day to day wear.

Glitter Eyeliner: n/a
I used to wear these solo with no eyeshadow for years back in high school. I don't think I have rocked the glitter liner in a while but when I do these babies are great. They aren't too sticky and do provide a lot of glitter. I love the gold one. I don't think these are stocked all year round so I couldn't find a price for you guys, but if you ever spot one pick them up ASAP!

Worst Products:

Pucker Up Lip Pencil: $8.95
These is the only bad product I have purchased from SG, and it was very very bad. I had ridiculously dy lips, beyond any normal amount if dryness, and therefore this review is catered towards that. This product how's in smooth, but it clings to any dryness you have like crazy. The fluro peachy-pink shade I got only heightened my dryness, and within 10 seconds all the cracks on my lips were filled with colour, leaving the rest a patchy mess. I had to remove it instantly, it was that bad. If you had NO dryness give these guys ago, but I think you can find much better, similar products out there.

In-between Products:

Tanning Mit: $9.95
This mitt is okay, but it did tear after about 3 uses. You may say that is horrible, but I was us using it with both tan and moisturiser. I feel the tearing was half due to my own carelessness so I can't really diss it.

As I said earlier there are a lot of products I still need to get my hands on. A lot of people have said great things about their fake tan, and they are well known for all their amazing nail art kits and accessories.

That is all lovely people! Talk soon :)

Finally, the Naked Palette

Hello blog world!

So I did finally cave and buy the naked palette, but I was DEVISTATED; a mere 2 days after ordering it the naked 3 was released. I will be getting my hands on that (probably not until after I get back from Japan, as it is sold out) as soon as possible. The naked 3 has all the rosey tints my blue eyes love so much. I have taken a few snaps but probably wont do a full review, only because naked 3 is all everyone wants to hear about. Let me know if I should still do make up menu or something similar using this palette.

Do any of you plan on getting the Naked 3? Let me know!

Haul

I may have been naughty and picked up a few things recently, but 99.9% of them were on sale, or on a deal so its okay!

I will do some reviews of these separately over the coming week or so :)

Products I've Used Up: November

November was products crazy for me so grab some tea and prepare for a big one!

Versace Bright Crystal
My go to perfume for the last few years, which I will be repurchasing in the duty free shop after my holiday.

Mario Badescu Glycolic Toner
The was a tester for an exfoliating toner, which I have to admit was too small too really give an opioj on. If anyone else has tried it can you please let me know how you got on with it!

Lush Dream Cream
This is my second or third tub of this, and I love it! Good for sensitive or problematic skin, or if you just like a lotion that will soak in super fast :)

Sanctuary Spa Body Scrub
I have mentioned this before but this did nothing for me. It was too runny to really do much, and even though it had beads they did not feel very abrasive on the skin.

Michael Todd Honey and Oat Cleanser
I used this for maybe 6 months in total, it feels like forever since I had any other cleaner! It worked really a well as a gentle cleanser.  Since swapping cleanser I feel like my skin has not been as good (with a LOT of blemishes), but it could just take time to adjust to a new routine. If my skin doesn't improve shortly I will definitely reorder this.

FaceShop Mung Bean Mask, Simple Wipes, Dental Flossers, Biore Nose Strips
We have a mix here. The mask I would not repurchase, it was full of cosmetic glitter rather than having any real brightening properties. The wipes work okay for the price, but aren't as moist or as moisturising as others I have tried. The dental flossers are great, and finally the nose strips which I repurchase ASAP!

Micheal Todd Intensive Eye Cream (depotted)
I have already posted a full review of this but it was not great. I hated the packaging and the products really did nothing for my dark circles.

Savy by DB Eyeshadow Trio
This was a cute, affordable eye trio.... Which I smashed.

Clarisonic Gentle Head
This didn't do too much for my skin. I never went through a 'purging' stage, which makes me think my skin needs something stronger. Because of that I have since upraised to the blue head, which is exfoliating or strong or something like that. It's above Normal that's all I can remember.

Sanctuary Spa Hot Sugar Scrub
This was amazing! Really luxurious and spa like, as the name suggests. It leaves the skin very soft and smooth, and is perfect for removing fake tan. The heat just gives it that amazing feeling, which makes me want to purchase it over more standard scrubs. Try this, please.

Formula 10.0.06 Mud Mask
This mask smelt amazing, but unfortunately the positives ends there. It stung on my skin, the bottle split open, and didn't do anything for breakouts or other problems of the skin. Do not recommend.

Sanctuary Spa Thermal Detox Mask
This mask is amazing. Again I have already given this a full review, so I'll keep it brief. It worked very well in drawing the impurities out of my skin. It felt good. And it wasn't overly pricey. This is another skin care essential in my books.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Scrub
This was a meh scrub. I know it's not all that good but I just prefer scrubs that feel like they are really scraping off a layer of skin. The beads in this were just gritty and small. Which also made them really difficult to get off. Half the time when you apply your foundation at least a dozen would still be all über your face.

The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Bath and Shower Gel
This never really grabbed my attention. It worked out, smelt nice, but had nothing special going for it.

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation
This was my second bottle, but now that I am finally on to the 3rd I am starting to think I don't actually like this all that much. I used to love it, and it still is great for the price, but there just a few too many faults. It's oxidises like a butch. Literally turning a salmon colour on my face over time, not very appealing. It also takes FOREVER to blend. Finally, it never fully sets, four hours later I could wipe my brow, and take half the foundation off, setting powder or not. I think I need to venture out of the drugstore and see if a high end foundation can give me what I need.

Clarisonic Gel Cleanser
Another tester size, this knee I pretty much wasted in order to use up. It did not work well with my clarisonic at all. No frothing meant it just dripped in your eyes a lot, which stings like a mother.

Lush Big Liquid Shampoo, Celebrate Body Cream
Oh wow I loved both of these. I will probably do a lush haul with full reviews, but these are amazing.

Michael Todd Hydration Boost Facial Serum
Finally we have reached the end of the epic post! This serum smelt nice, is organic, and comes in a cute pump bottle. But I can't say I saw any real affects to my skin. This could have been what was keeping my skin clear and is just didn't know, but I morning with a proper moisturiser this step is a bit gimmicky.
